What it Covers

Georgia Pathways to Coverage Medicaid pays for a broad range of medical services. If you’re not sure if a particular service is covered by Pathways, or if it requires prior authorization, ask your doctor or your Medicaid managed care organization.

Here is a list of the main services that Pathways Medicaid covers:

  • Doctor visits
  • Hospital stays
  • Emergency services
  • Prescriptions
  • Lab and X-rays
  • Family planning services
  • Preventive services, including immunizations (shots)
  • Mental health services
  • Chronic disease management services
  • Ambulance transportation for medical emergencies

For people ages 19 and 20, Pathways Medicaid also covers:

Pathways Medicaid usually does not cover long-term care services or nursing homes. To have Medicaid pay for long-term care services, you must qualify for disability-based Medicaid.
